The League of Women Voters (the "League") is an organization, made up of women and men, that is nonpartisan, and has fought to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through education and advocacy. It is active at the national, state, and local levels.

The League is strictly nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes candidates for office at any level of government. It, however, DOES work to influence policy by educating its members, as well as the public. One of the ways the Manitowoc County League does this is through candidate forums, where all candidates are invited to participate and present their views, as well as address concerns and answer questions from the public.  We also present (or co-sponsor) informational events throughout the year to inform people about current and important issues in our community, state, nation, or the world.  One example of a very popular weekly informational series that LWVMC co-sponsors is Great Decisions, held at the Manitowoc Public Library (or virtual during the CoVid Pandemic).

These events encourage informed and active participation in government, and work to increase understanding of major public policy issues.
